For my international readers who might not know, Cheryl Cole is a successful pop singer.
She was married to Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole. At the time they met, when she was Cheryl Tweedy, she sang with Girls Aloud. The couple are now divorced.
I am not a follower of Ms Cole’s but did see an item a few days ago on Yahoo UK‘s Daily Pop Gossip saying that, following a year of setbacks, which included her divorce and a bout of malaria, she is turning to God. Quoting an article in The Sun, the post tells us:
“Cheryl has awakened her spiritual side,” said a source close to the singer. “She has been tapping into higher powers for answers and guidance.
“She’s been doing some deep thinking – especially after malaria. Christianity is closest to her, but she’s open to other religious influences.”
Seemingly, she wore a Hindu charm to ‘X Factor’ rehearsals last week, and her pal, dancer Derek Hough, is a Mormon.
So, it would appear that Christianity is just one of many options open to the songstress. I sincerely hope that it is the ‘closest to her’.
Time for interested — and responsible! — missionaries to ring for an appointment and explain to her why Jesus Christ is ‘the way, the truth and the life’ and why He said, ‘No one comes to the Father except through Me’.
It would be wonderful if she were to become a fully-fledged Christian woman. But that will entail difficult decisions, both personally and professionally.
It’s a tough choice to make and not the easiest of lives to lead. I wish her all the very best.
