A week ago today, on Friday, September 9, Hillary Clinton gave a speech at an LGBT fundraiser in New York City.

This was the day her campaign team said she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Never mind the contagion risk.

Hillary spoke at Cipriani Wall Street (!!) where she said (emphases mine):

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables’. Right?” Clinton said to applause and laughter from the crowd of supporters at an LGBT for Hillary fundraiser where Barbra Streisand performed. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it.

She continued:

He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric.

I have been reading #RealDonaldTrump at least once a day since primary season.

I have yet to find a hateful tweet or retweet there.

I started reading Trump’s Twitter feed mostly because Big Media and the Democrats have made up then broadcast so many untruths about it that I decided to read the content myself. What I found were brief policy announcements and responses to Big Media and Clinton campaign exaggerations.

Back to Trump supporters as Deplorables. Nearly as soon as Clinton uttered those words a new Twitter account arose: #BasketOfDeplorables.

On Saturday, September 10, Clinton attempted to walk back her statement:

I regret saying ‘half’ – that was wrong.

That made it seem really ambiguous.

Trump supporters have continued the Deplorables theme on Twitter, with many memes and photos, some of which are below.

First, the comparison of the Trump movement to the French Revolution:

The artwork is by Keln, who comments at The Conservative Treehouse.

On that theme, but elsewhere, longtime YouTube favourites Diamond and Silk, who supported Mitt Romney in 2012, and are now on the Trump Train in 2016 tweeted:

This one went directly to Hillary:

Here are more people unashamed to support Donald Trump. Deplorable!

The man in the photo at the top left below is an intensive care nurse and head of Latinos For Trump. He is standing in front of the banner for the Republican National Assembly of Hispanics in California:

The Hillary contingent erupted again on Tuesday, September 13, when Trump insider Roger Stone had some fun with the poster for The Expendables and added Pepe the Frog, an unofficial campaign mascot:

From left to right we see Roger Stone, Dr Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Eric Trump, Mike Pence, the Donald, Pepe, Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump Jr — and, from the alt-right — Alex Jones (Infowars) and Milo Yiannopoulos (Breitbart).

Incredibly, The Independent reported:

Hillary Clinton has condemned Donald Trump for sharing a viral meme which has recently become associated with the white supremacist movement.

Donald Trump, his son and a close adviser have all posted photos of Pepe the frog, a cartoon amphibian which became controversial late last year after a group of gamers worked to associate it with Nazi propaganda.

“This is horrifying,” the Clinton campaign said, referring to the images shared on social media by Mr Trump.

Someone rightly wrote in the comments:

Did they seriously just say that pepe the frog is a racist icon??? Have they gone stark raving mad. It’s like The Onion exploded across the entire internet. Where do I go to get actual news?? This is bizarre.

Comic book illustrator Matt Furie created Pepe several years ago. By 2008, the frog made the rounds of various sites that young people frequent.

Of his creation, Furie said last year:

My Pepe philosophy is simple: ‘Feels good man.’ It is based on the meaning of the word Pepe: ‘To go Pepe.’

At the end of August 2016, when Clinton attacked not only the alt-right but also Pepe, Furie said:

It’s just a phase, it’s not the first time Pepe has been reclaimed for evil, and no one will care about it come November. I predict that his sly, lovable, and charming status will be intact as early as next week.

I don’t know who is making these ‘evil’ images of Pepe — if they even exist — but it would come as no surprise that the Left are responsible.

Clinton’s people — Democrats and Big Media — are really grasping at straws here.

Trump’s people are enjoying themselves. This has to be the most joyous presidential campaign ever!

In the meantime, the Deplorables need a bigger basket!
