On Saturday, September 29, 2018, Kanye ‘Ye’ West was a guest star on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

As a Trump supporter, he wanted to wear his MAGA — Make America Great Again — cap, but the show’s cast and crew told him not to.

Actor Chris Evans, who appeared on the show that night, took strong exception to West’s open support of President Trump. I would suggest reading what West says before reading Evans’s tweet, then comparing and contrasting the two perspectives:

Candace Owens, about whom I wrote yesterday, made an excellent point about the Democrat plantation (language alert):

Owens sat through Saturday Night Live to watch her friend West, whom she has encouraged to speak out in favour of Trump:

Kanye had the closing segment and was booed. His final comments about the banning of his MAGA hat were not broadcast. He donned his cap and called his fellow entertainers ‘cowards’. Here’s the clip that was censored. The first 30 seconds are the best:

Here are two excerpts:

This was Candace Owens’s take on her friend Kanye and Saturday Night Live:

Yep. It happened after the 2016 election to Kanye, and, sadly, it’s possible this could happen again.

Although I reserve the words ‘hero’ and ‘bravery’ for military personnel, it is true that West is taking a huge risk in openly supporting his president:

No doubt ‘Ye’ is delighted to have Candace Owens as a friend.

In closing, I wanted to say a few words about the environment in which Chris Evans grew up. His hometown of Sudbury, Massachusetts, is one of the nicest towns outside of Boston. His father is a dentist and his mother is an artistic director at Concord Youth Theater. Concord is another splendid town outside of Boston, made famous by the American Revolution. Both are upmarket communities which attract rarefied, wealthy people.

Chris Evans’s siblings are or have been in the arts. His brother is an actor. Their uncle Mike Capuano is a Democrat congressman representing parts of Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. Capuano’s seat used to be Tip O’Neill’s, Speaker of the House during the Reagan years.

Chris Evans has never had to want for much in his life growing up. Given his surroundings and family, he had the best of everything.

Candace Owens expressed it well to Breitbart on October 1 (emphases mine):

“Chris Evans sounds like a plantation owner,” Owens told Breitbart News, referring to Evans as “Captain out of touch with America,” poking fun at his most famous role as Captain America.

“It’s them that think their ideas are supreme and superior,” Owens said of members of the media and the left-wing Hollywood elite. “Evans didn’t challenge Kanye’s statements. He simply launched a personal attack”

“It was the euphemistic equivalent of Evans calling Kanye a dumb — …

You can fill in the rest … And, yes, Owens did say the word. She must be steamed about this, because she also made a video about it — well worth watching. She wants to debate Evans:

This reply from an Evans fan to his (Evans’s) tweet about West seems to corroborate her words: I’m not going to show it here, so see it for yourselves. Wow. Just wow. Be sure to see the opposing replies in the thread, accompanied by photos. The truth is coming out about the Left, that’s for sure.

It’s a pity Evans fails to understand that 98% of Americans have not shared his life experience.

That’s why they voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and will vote Republican in November 2018.

They would like their children to have the same opportunities that he did.

Maybe Evans doesn’t want that to happen.

On Saturday, August 11, 2018, leftists attempted to revive the peculiar melee that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, on August 12, 2017.

Meanwhile, on August 11, President Trump hosted his biker supporters at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club.

Charlottesville

In Charlottesville this year, the Left showed their true colours once again:

A Unite the Right 2 demonstration took place that day, just as it did last year. However, very few participants must have shown up, because Antifa were the stars of the show.

Antifa verbally abused reporters — ironically, the very people who defend them.

Breitbart reported (language warning in the link):

A crew with the left-wing anarchist group “Antifa” attacked and shouted at a USA Today reporter and photographer during a counter-protest in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.

In a counter-protest to the “Unite the Right 2” protest, Antifa mobs descended on the streets of Washington, D.C., attacking police and threatening onlookers. The Antifa group also threatened and shouted down members of the media, including a USA Today reporter who said she was simply trying to do her job.

Exclusive footage taken by Breitbart News shows two members of Antifa cursing at and shouting down the USA Today reporter, telling her to “Stop taking pictures!”

“Are you going to report how many people they tear-gassed?” the Antifa member shouted at a photographer.

“If we knew,” the USA Today reporter responded.

The Antifa members then verbally abused the USA Today reporter with foul language. An AFP (Agence France Presse) photographer was also caught up in the incident:

After the altercation, the USA Today reporter and a photographer with AFP said they were just trying to do their jobs.

Then, there is the curious attitude of NBC towards Antifa then and now in Charlottesville. As NewsBusters reports, last year, their political director and news programme host Chuck Todd (emphases in the original):

used his MSNBC program, MTP Daily to elevate Antifa’s violence as a legitimate tactic against the right. He even doubled down and allowed them to use the formerly prestigious Meet the Press as a platform to push their hate and violent methods. Todd has never condemned them.

How ironic, then, that last Saturday night, an Antifa protester shouted foul language at two of Todd’s colleagues:

Late Saturday night, NBC News reporter Cal Perry and his crew were in the thick of it as Antifa members ganged up on them and attacked. The next morning, NBC’s Sunday Today ignored the attack and suggested the media was simply “heckled” by their assaulters.

On Twitter, Perry was documenting the protesters as they marched through the streets of college town when they started to get “very aggressive with the media” and trying to block their camera shots. “Yeah. We’re getting a lot of this. Protesters trying to grab our camera,” he responded to one Twitter commenter telling him to “f**k off national media vulture.”

NewsBusters included a Cal Perry video and even warned about the language content.

Meanwhile, protesters were also assembling in front of the White House. The NBC reporter there, Garrett Haake, said there was violence in Charlottesville, but instead of showing Perry’s video of the altercation involving him and a cameraman, showed their other coverage.

The following day, Chuck Todd ignored the abuse of his colleagues and launched into another anti-Trump diatribe. NewsBusters has the relevant part of the NBC Sunday Today transcript.

This is worth noting:

CNN’s Brian Stelter was in no position to be indignant about Antifa’s attacks on the media:

Washington DC

On Sunday, the scheduled right-wing protest, beefed up by the media, was, in fact, a damp squib. The violent Left dominated once again. The building in the background, by the way, is the Trump International, formerly the Old Post Office:

Here’s more irony about the media, especially CNN, defending Antifa past violence:

Bedminster

Some of President Trump’s longest and most loyal supporters are the Bikers for Trump.

Trump welcomed 180 of them to his Bedminster golf club on Saturday:

The Daily Mail has coverage of the event, including photos:

President Donald Trump has met with a group of 180 bikers at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, reveling in the group’s loyal support as they bashed the press and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The group, made up of veterans and members of the New Jersey chapter of Bikers for Trump, descended on Trump National Golf Club on Saturday in a procession of chrome and roar of exhaust pipes.

Claiming nearly 100,000 members across the country, Bikers for Trump is a major grassroots organization that supports the Trump administration’s agenda.

Driving rain at first pushed a planned outdoor photo-op into the club’s ballroom, where the White House press pool was ushered in at around 3.30pm and greeted with noisy chants of ‘USA, USA!’

Here, Trump greets the bikers:

When it began raining, Trump opened his clubhouse to his guests:

This video summarises a happy, fun event which served as a generous ‘thank you’ for their continued support:

Afterwards, Trump tweeted:

Indeed they are Americans who love the Great Republic. May God continue to bless them — and President Trump.

In November 2017, CBS dumped Charlie Rose from CBS This Morning and NBC sacked Matt Lauer from Today.

It’s ironic that two sex pests hosted breakfast shows — designed for family viewing.

Both Rose and Lauer were long-time media legends. As such, they came with a high price tag.

On January 5, Fox News reported that NBC has since found better breakfast broadcasting ratings for less money. NBC is leading ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) since Hoda Kotb has moved into Lauer’s spot on Today and Savannah Guthrie co-hosts with her:

Kotb will make roughly $18 million per year less than her disgraced male predecessor — reportedly earning $7 million per year while Lauer pulled in $25 million, according to the New York Post

In fact, Kotb’s co-anchor Savannah Guthrie also is believed to earn around $7 million per year …

The Fox article focussed on another highly-paid personality, ABC’s GMA host, George Stephanopolous. He makes between $15 million and $18 million per year. His co-host Robin Roberts reportedly earns the same salary.

The Fox article points out:

With “GMA” now trailing “Today” in viewership, ABC will be under increased pressure to justify its hosts’ exorbitant salaries to ABC’s notoriously parsimonious owner, Disney.

A media analyst agrees:

Media analyst Jeff McCall told Fox News that NBC’s success in recent week proves that the high-paid Lauer wasn’t necessarily the reason people tuned in to the “Today” show. In Kotb, NBC may have a more popular host while saving the network roughly $18 million per year.

“I think a similar case could be made now for George Stephanopoulos at ‘GMA.’ The show can be successful whether George is on the set or not,” McCall said. “’GMA’ is really not a serious news program anyway, and George’s supposed D.C. insider persona just isn’t that essential for a show that wants to focus on fads, entertainment and emotion.”

A network insider agrees:

“He doesn’t bring much to the table anymore,” said an ABC insider, who noted that “’GMA’ covers barely any news. It’s not clear why he’s sitting there.”

Another insider:

called Stephanopoulos “merely a fig leaf for the ugly truth that ABC no longer covers news.” The insider pointed not only to “GMA’s” soft focus, but also to “World News Tonight” frequently leading with weather stories, “20/20” rarely covering news and “Nightline” – increasingly the last bastion for news coverage at ABC – now occupying the graveyard shift at 12:35 a.m. “when nobody watches.”

McCall, the media analyst, says that no one will ever mistake Stephanopoulos for a journalist. Indeed. The man President Donald Trump dubbed ‘Little George’ — the GMA desk had to be modified for him — rose to fame as Bill Clinton’s White House Director of Communications and as his senior adviser.

Ultimately, McCall says:

ABC, and all the morning shows for that matter, should stop throwing huge money at personalities and simply find relatable anchors who have some journalistic instincts and a sense of the nation’s mood.

Indeed.

Even if he were to get bumped from GMA, Stephanopoulos still has his roles as ABC’s chief news anchor and host of the Sunday morning news show, This Week.

What astounds me is the high salaries these people get. Why not take early retirement and spend time with family instead? What about volunteer work? Oh, I forgot: that would put them in touch with ordinary Americans. Never mind.
