This post is not meant to encourage smoking in any way but is meant to discourage propaganda which denormalises the pastime — as my late father called it — and put it into context.

George Burns, the American comedian, is on the bottom left and Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment is in the upper right hand corner.
Both have since gone to their rest after long lives … so …
Why demonise or denormalise them?

The problem is that everyone has different body chenistry and therefore toxins does not affect everyone the same . However, generally speaking smoking is bad for your health and does causes lung cancer as well as other types of cancer…In my field of work I seen too many smokers died suffering unimaginable pain .

Thanks.
Then again, many do not. Therefore, blanket bans, WHO health stigmas and so on obscure the issue. Now, if it were a more national thing, maybe. However, even that needs more research.

The facts are actually quite clear….The problem with the smokers is that they affect the lives of others as second hand smoke kills … perhaps you should come down to the morgue and see for yourself what a very toxic and grotesque the lungs of the smokers look like. Anybody should be scare to carry such a monster inside their bodies. .

I do not believe so. This IS the point of these #Octabber posts.
Personally, I knew of only ONE person who died of emphysema and that was in the mid-1960s. I do not know of ANYONE who has died of lung cancer. I’m considerably old (and rancid) enough to have tracked this from the many people I have met around the world.
Maybe your hospital or morgue, like many others, is looking at Nazi science. I didn’t feature that post by accident and did say it was a lesson from history. The death factors you are looking at — ‘premature’ death (even health faddists die in their late 60s or early 70s), people who had a very poor diet in childhood, men who worked in dusty factories, asbestos workers — may be coincidental and/or extraneous to their smoking ‘activity’, as it were.
Say a non-smoker eats corn flakes every day and dies in his mid-60s. Would you say that his death is because he ate corn flakes for breakfast every day? I very much doubt it. What about if he had pickles for lunch every day? You would surely discount that, too.
YET — today’s ‘health care specialist’ (and I use all those three words advisedly, meaning with caution and scepticism) would say — like the Nazis — that anyone who smoked at some point in his life and died (is it still possible to die?) will have expired because they had a smoke at the age of 11 or they smoked socially or that they were 20-a-day smokers.
Please — get some facts and stop believing what your health care superiors and WHO and anti-smoking ‘experts’ are saying. If you need resources, let me know. I can immediately direct you to my Recipes/Health page for a variety of false (bogus) science relating to smoking. Even though you’ve been subscribing for a while, it would seem that you haven’t had a chance to peruse it.
I appreciate your comment and, for our first exchange, it’s not the best but — please — stop believing the revisionism. Everything in moderation, including smoking, for those who choose to do so.

Sorry but apparently you are on denial. I am a health care professional and see dead and dying people every single day…so I believe , I know much more about this subject than you. I also work side by side with the coroner performing autopsies. Either you are just ignorant and or suffering from mental health illness , and your condition seem to prevent you from thinking rationally. .If you are a smoker .which I suspect you are just keep away from others that might not want to be expose to smoking.

She must be very bright if she knows enough on the subject to KNOW that SHS caused the deaths…considering that all the research done on SHS by EXPERTS in their field has shown NO conclusive proof that it is harmful?!

Just so.
Today’s healthcare people would actually have to start reading the truth and thinking independently about this issue.
Does any country records ‘smoking’ (or, even worse, SHS) as cause of death? I have not read of one. Imagine doing as the Nazis:
Hospital: Did your husband smoke?
Widow: He gave up 20 years ago.
Hospital: Thank you. [Writes down ‘smoking-related’ in ’cause of death’ box.]

I “dropped in” here to make a simple observation – then saw there are 22 comments posted – but when I checked it seems that karmami has posted one comment about ten times.
My observation is that among those long-lived smokers there is a famous (in the mid 20th C meaning) one. Madame Chiang Kai-chek or Soong May-ling; the “Empress of China”, was a chain-smoker for most of her life of 105 years.

Yes I agree with you at 9.09 am, CM. In connection with the fervour of ‘antis’ by the way, have you seen this http://news.stv.tv/west-central/242452-macpherson-calls-for-smokers-to-be-terrorised-after-cancer-battle/ ?

No, I hadn’t seen that, Llew — thanks for sending it in.
First, he’s lucky to be alive at 78. Second, if he has a cancerous tumour at that age, it’s most likely because of old age. I feel sorry for the man, especially for his call to ‘terrorise’ smokers. Appalling.

Yes. I put this comment on Facebook (I have to admit I’m back there): ‘I think it helps deal with one’s natural fear, when bad things happen or one gets a worrying diagnosis, if it can be attributed to a cause outside oneself. The whole point of a scapegoat is that it is innocent. Repeat innocent.’

You should have asked her where the report on SHS smoke was that confirms all this illness she went on about because I am blowed if I can find one anywhere off course she is an health professional who states openly that she has seen blackened lungs of smokers which of course is rubbish as it is impossible to tell a smokers lung from a none smoker and that is confirmed by ‘health professionals’, all the best churchmouse watch out for those cats.

Thanks, JE, I shall! 🙂
There was going to be no logical debate with her, especially after she called me ‘dumb ass’ and told me to repent for not using the brains God gave me. Yet, she liked that post and several others (more morals- and church-oriented).
There is no logic with anti-smokers. Did you notice how she started out on the ‘concern’ angle — the ‘if you only knew what I have experienced’.
Anyone knows that you don’t see blackened lungs in smokers unless they have black lung disease (e.g. caused by mining).
