The First Sunday in Advent — the beginning of the Church year — marks a new cycle in the three-year Lectionary, used in Catholic and mainline Protestant churches.
For the past Church year, we have been in Year A. We will begin Year B on Sunday, November 27.
The illustration shows the past few years of Lectionary cycles as a point of reference.
