Thursday, December 12, 2019 was the day the Conservatives won their biggest victory since 1987, when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister.
By contrast, Labour suffered their worst drubbing since 1935.
Even though he was re-elected in London’s Islington, Jeremy Corbyn will be resigning — at some point:
The leader of the Liberal Democrats, Jo Swinson, lost her seat in Scotland:
As such, she had to resign:
In Northern Ireland, the DUP’s Nigel Dodds lost his seat to, of all parties, the polar opposite: Sinn Fein.
As for Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party, they got 2.0% of the vote and no parliamentary seats. The man is a spent force now, and he should retire from political life.
So, on to Boris’s big night out. He defeated his Labour opponent comfortably in the constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip in west London:
Contrary to what the leftist media predicted, he increased his majority over Labour:
He returned to central London to give a speech there:
He thanked everyone who voted Conservative as well as volunteers and candidates:
Nationwide, the Conservatives won some traditional Labour seats:
London, meanwhile, largely remained Labour, although Felicity Buchan managed to return Kensington to the Conservatives:
The biggest news was Conservative Mark Fletcher’s defeat of Labour’s Dennis ‘Beast of Bolsover’ Skinner. Even Margaret Thatcher couldn’t do that:
Another huge Conservative win was Sedgefield, Tony Blair’s former constituency:
Boris now has a comfortable majority not only to stave off calls for a second Brexit referendum but also to leave the EU early next year.
Whilst it is too early to wish everyone a happy Brexmas, yesterday might as well have been called Boris Day. Guido Fawkes has a montage of Boris’s greatest video clips. Some of these go back to when he was Mayor of London. He admirably hosted the 2012 Olympics:
I wish Boris Johnson all the best as he continues his stay in No. 10 presiding over what he now calls The People’s Government.
May his vision last summer of ‘sunlit uplands’ come true for all of us in Great Britain.

So do I.
I watched about 45 minutes of yesterday’s impeachment hearing and cannot believe this is actually taking place.

I know what you mean. And CNN and most of these stations didn’t cover much of the Horowitz Report which is shocking as it sits and they sure won’t run Durham or Barr’s reports upcoming. THEY weaponized the justice department, probably set up Papadopolous, paid foreign actors for dirt and they are getting away with this. It’s scary. I sure hope what happened over there is a harbinger of things to come here. A wave. Strong borders, no socialism. No to the lunatic left.

I agree 110% with you, lynnfay.
What the media are doing in the US and the UK is nothing short of outrageous, wilfully covering up a) corruption and b) the destructive policies of the Left.
You are right. It is ‘scary’, to say the least.
We in the UK dodged a bullet on Thursday. My word, I don’t know how the Conservatives did it, but they managed to win in constituencies that have always voted Labour — and with novice candidates. More posts on this to come next week.
If it makes you feel any better, just as our Brexit referendum in 2016 heralded a Trump victory that November, I believe that Boris’s win is a forerunner of President Trump’s re-election in 2020. It will be, as he would say, YUGE.

I do not think he will.
He will take his premiership very seriously. He did not win this to lose it.

This is absolutely epic. The British people have extended a giant middle finger to their version of the deep state. Three years ago, the electorate voted unequivocally to leave the EU. The British version of the Deep State has done their utmost to prevent Brexit ever since. The sheer arrogance of these elites, who assume they know better, has got to stick in the craw of patriotic English men and women who want their country back.
I had read that Nigel Farage, the head of UKIP, in every district where his party could beat the Torys, instructed his supporters not to vote, or to vote Tory. Talk about putting country ahead of party. There is a REAL English patriot.
I am thrilled for Boris, and for Nigel, and for all the pro-Brexit British people. They ate taking their country back from the Globalists and the Communists.

Thank you very much, George — great to hear from you!
Yes, people here ARE sick of being told what to do by the media and elitist windbags.
I, too, am thrilled for Boris. He took a lot of stick from the leftists in Parliament before the election. (I am a regular BBC Parliament viewer.)
Boris really believes in Great Britain — and England. The media and other elites hate that. They want us to crumble. This election result shows, as you say, that the British want their nation back.
By the way, Nigel Farage hasn’t led UKIP for a while. He formed The Brexit Party earlier this year. They did really well in the EU Parliament elections in May. The Brexit Party stood several candidates in this election, but got only 2% of the vote and no MPs.
I am not sure about Nigel Farage any more. I don’t think he really wants to see Brexit come to fruition. It didn’t seem to me as if he was happy about Boris or his Brexit deal. Perhaps Nigel should go off stage for a while and read an improving book at the pub.
Even four of Nigel’s Brexit Party MEPs (EU MPs) told people to vote Conservative rather than for their party’s candidate.
Nigel is now a spent force. His work is over. He did a great job a few years ago in getting a referendum on EU membership for us and was correct in criticising Theresa May’s Brexit deal.
Now, with Boris at the helm, things are changing. I’m not sure if Nigel fully realises that yet. If he had, he would have been more supportive of Boris on Friday.
